According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 6:11 a.m. on U.S. Highway 79 near Milam County Road 234. Investigators said Morton was riding a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound when he veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2013 Ford Taurus.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but he was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. The driver and passenger in the Ford Taurus were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries.
