The Winnsboro, Louisiana community is mourning the tragic loss of Courtney Temple, 28, who died following a fatal collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and Weems Road in Richland Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, Temple was a front-seat passenger in a 2007 Ford F-150 traveling south on Weems Road. Investigators said the vehicle entered the intersection with a green light and began a left turn onto U.S. Highway 80 when it was struck by a 2013 GMC Sierra traveling eastbound. Authorities say the driver of the GMC allegedly failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection, causing the crash.

Temple, who was properly restrained at the time, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts. The driver of the Ford was also seriously injured and transported to hospital, while the driver of the GMC sustained minor injuries.
Following investigation, Louisiana State Police determined the GMC driver was allegedly impaired at the time of the crash. After medical treatment, he was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including vehicular homicide and related traffic and licensing violations.
As news of the crash spreads, family, friends, and community members are grieving deeply. Those who knew Courtney Temple remember her with sadness and affection, focusing on the life she lived and the relationships she built rather than the circumstances of her passing.
