The Union City, Tennessee community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Paul Martin Tohn, a junior at Union City High School who died Thursday evening from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident in Weakley County.
According to school and local officials, Paul Tohn passed away at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital following the crash. His sudden death has left classmates, teachers, teammates, and the wider community in shock and deep grief.

Paul was a student at Union City High School and participated actively in both tennis and golf, where he was known as a dedicated teammate and a positive presence among peers. School leaders described him as a “wonderful young man and a true Golden Tornado,” reflecting the strong impression he left on those around him.
The school system confirmed that counseling services and support personnel, including area church youth leaders, have been made available across campuses to help students and staff cope with the loss. Administrators emphasized that the priority in the coming days is supporting both the school community and the Tohn family.
He is survived by his parents, Katie and Kenny Tohn, and his two siblings, William and McClain, who also attend schools in the district. The family’s loss has been described as immeasurable, with the community rallying around them in support and sympathy.
Union City Director of Schools Wes Kennedy noted that the focus now is on compassion, care, and unity as the community processes the tragedy together.
