Campania Murder-Suicide Investigation Underway After Couple Found Dead at Tasmania Property

Tasmanian police are investigating the deaths of two people found at a rural property near Campania, north of Hobart, in what authorities are treating as a suspected murder-suicide.

Emergency services were called to a home on Native Corners Road after a family member raised concerns following communication from one of the residents. Responders arrived at the property and located a man outside the residence and a woman inside the home, both deceased.

Detective Inspector David Gill said early findings indicate the incident is being treated as a family violence-related case. Investigators believe the events occurred shortly before emergency services arrived.

Police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public and stated that no other individuals were believed to be living at the property at the time.

Authorities described the scene as distressing for first responders and confirmed that the matter has been referred to the coroner. Investigations are ongoing, including forensic examination and interviews with family members.

Police also noted there were no prior reports of domestic violence connected to the household.

The incident has shocked the local rural community, with support services being made available for those affected by the news.

Investigators are continuing to piece together a timeline of events leading up to the deaths, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
