Authorities in Richmond County have identified a woman as the victim of a fatal shooting in Augusta, Georgia, following an overnight incident that is now under active investigation.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 3600 block of Cameron Drive around 1:11 a.m. in response to a report of a suspicious situation. The call reportedly came after an individual told deputies they had received a message from an unknown person claiming that their friend had been killed at the location.

Upon arrival, deputies searched the area and discovered a woman unresponsive outside a residence. Officials confirmed she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Khyla Rodriguez. She was pronounced dead at 2:27 a.m. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Crime scene investigators and deputies remained at the location for several hours processing evidence and continuing the investigation. Authorities have not released any information regarding a suspect or possible motive.
